Spotlight: Brandon Nappy, Tactical Marketing Director at Swamp Head Brewery

Brandon Nappy loves beer. In fact, he loves it so much he made it his carreer, as one of the key people at Florida’s Swamp Head Brewery. What makes Swamp Head special? The six amazing people behind it, who are passionate about craft beer and the state of Florida!

But as some of you may have guessed, Swamp Head also uses SendHub on a regular basis. Their famous tasting room, “The Wetlands” has 10 beers on tap, with 5 of them changing daily to showcase new brews. They’ve implemented SendHub to send daily updates to customers with exactly which beers are on tap, and what specials they have going on that day. If you ask me, waking up to an SMS that tells you your favorite beer is on tap is pretty much a perfect start to the day.

Last week, Swamp Head decided to organize a pubcrawl, in order to celebrate the ‘American Craft Beer Week’. What? It’s a national celebration that sheds light on drinking locally brewed craft beer, which is as close to Christmas as it gets, for beer lovers. “We thought that bringing a bunch of our fans around to a few of the bars downtown that sell Swamphead beer would be a fun way to promote our product” says Brandon, “and also bring our loyal followers to bars that they may or may not have been to before.” But with 7 bars on the crawl, 200+ people expected and people joining as you go, how do you keep everything organized? Enter SendHub.

“With one text message, I could keep everyone in the loop on where we are, where we’re headed and what mission’s they need to complete in order to get free beer or prizes”, says Brandon “the iPhone app was perfect for this and let me keep the party going, without stressing over organization.”

How, you ask? 3 easy steps!

1) Brandon created a group on SendHub called 'pubcrawl’.

2) He gave his customers and friends his SendHub number, and asked them to text the keyword 'PUBCRAWL’ to join the group. (PS: setup wise, you’re done right here. 2 steps. That’s it!)

3) During the pubcrawl, Brandon used our iPhone app to send out location changes, and creative in-bar competitions like the one above. Who could resist coming up with a creative hello to get a free beer? Tebow-ing seems perfectly appropriate as a hello

But no Spotlight is complete, without our infamous Q&A:

Fav part of SendHub: My two favorite parts of SendHub are the segmented lists and the iPhone app, which allows me to use SendHub on the fly and in real time.

Fav Swamphead beer: I love all of our beer equally… Ok, fine. I like Stump Knocker the best out of our year round beers and I love love love some Saison du Swamp when it comes out each fall.

Fav tech gadget: iPhone

Most embarrassing SMS moment: Don’t really have one. I’ve done the obvious accidental text to the wrong person and have missed some interesting automatic changes in texts… but nothing too silly.

A man with a constant beer in his hand, and all of it is part of his job. Can’t say I’m not a little bit jealous… To learn more about Swamphead, you can follow them @swamphead, or check out their Tasting Room next time you’re in Gainesville, FL. We hope you enjoyed our Spotlight, and if you (or your company) want to be featured, send us a txt and tell us how YOU use SendHub :)
